Poetry by Heart Lights Up the LRC
Last night, the LRC hosted a truly special Poetry by Heart competition, filling the library with rhythm, emotion, comedy and the power of spoken word.
Taking place in the Learning Resource Centre, the event brought together both students and staff, each stepping forward to perform their chosen poems entirely from memory, in a remarkable display of confidence, creativity and passion.

The performance was hosted by the LRC’s Ste Martin, with the evening’s judging panel: Principal Clare Russell, Mike Conley and Sarah Martin. Their thoughtful feedback and warm encouragement added to the supportive atmosphere, making the event both inspiring and uplifting for all who took part. The winners from Runshaw will now be entered into the national Poetry by Heart competition, with the exciting opportunity to perform their pieces on one of the most iconic stages in the country, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. Poetry by Heart is a national poetry speaking competition for schools and colleges in England, helping to develop confidence with poetry in an enjoyable, accessible and engaging way.

Congratulations to all our performers and a huge thanks to everyone involved in organising the event.
