Accessibility Statement for Runshaw College

Runshaw College is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website. This means you should be able to:

• Change colours, contrast levels and font sizes.
• Zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen.
• Navigate most of the website using only a keyboard.
• Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software.
• Listen to most of the website using a screen reader.

We have also made the website content as clear and straightforward as possible.

Compliance Status

The Runshaw College website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-Accessible Content

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations.

We know that some parts of our website are not yet fully accessible. We are actively working to identify and address these issues through regular accessibility reviews and website improvements. These include:

WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard The dropdown menus along the top of the website cannot be expanded using the keyboard. For example, the keyboard cannot access the link ‘I am a School Leaver’ under ‘Study at Runshaw’.

WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible The keyboard focus is not visible on multiple elements across the website.

WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow At 400% zoom, the contrast and font options are no longer available for users.

WCAG 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide The carousel at the top of the homepage cannot be paused, stopped or hidden. This also includes the video for ‘School Leavers – Apply Now’. It is not possible to stop, pause or hide the rotating slider of logos at the bottom of the webpage.

WCAG 1.4.13 Content on Hover or Focus When hovering over the dropdown menus along the top of the website, there is no mechanism to dismiss the additional content triggered without moving pointer hover or keyboard focus.

WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value Accessible text is missing from the dropdown menu within the search banner.

WCAG 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) The links in the footer are obscured by the cookie banner when they receive keyboard focus. Additionally, when the site is viewed at 200% zoom and 400% zoom, more elements become hidden from view when they receive keyboard focus.

WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum) There are multiple elements across the website that do not have sufficient colour contrast.

WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content: Nearly all image elements across the homepage are missing accessible text. WCAG 4.1.2 Frames must have an accessible name: This is missing from the map.

WCAG 4.1.2: Name, Role, Value Elements must only used supported aria attributes: This refers to both navigation menus along the top of the website.

WCAG 1.3.1 Certain aria roles must contain particular children & parents: This refers to the second menu along the top of the website.

WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow At 400% zoom, the contrast and font options are no longer available for users.

WCAG 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks and WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value This refers to the map under ‘Privacy Notice’.

WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum) There are multiple elements across the website that do not have sufficient colour contrast.

WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible The keyboard focus is not visible on the dropdown banner within the search bar when the keyboard first tabs onto it (‘Website’ or ‘Courses). The keyboard focus is not visible on the three links at the bottom of the webpage, including ‘FAQS – School Leavers’.
