‘Mount Street’ photo wins university competition
We are proud to announce that Lilly Haslam, our second year student on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design, has won a photography competition organised by the University of Cumbria.
Her specialist teacher Darren Brown added, “Lilly is a natural future creative practitioner, hardworking and independent, who regularly creates personal, innovative and sophisticated conceptual digital imagery”.

Lilly added, “the competition brief had 4 options – environmental portraits on location, people at work or play, landscapes shaped by human activity, and self-portraits. I specifically focused on human activity of Manchester and people at work. I love Manchester’s connection with its people, and its random mix up of modern and old human activity, which I have captured”.
As well as the accolade of winning the competition against entries from across the UK, Lilly also received a prize of £100. Lilly’s Photography teacher Deborah Twist was over the moon, “Lilly is an outstanding student who always approaches any task or brief given with both creativity and professionalism and is keen to develop her skills to the highest standard in her photography – well deserved!”
