This week our A Level Early Modern and Modern History students visited Hoghton Tower.
Situated between Preston and Blackburn, the hilltop location – which made Hoghton Tower strategically crucial for centuries – now guarantees brilliant views of Lancashire and welcomes thousands of visitors every year.
The trip allowed our students to learn more about the Tudor period, careers in Heritage and the effects of the Witchcraze on Lancashire. Their guide, Keith, was fantastic – having such a passion for local history. The students were thoroughly entertained and were able to supplement their in-class knowledge during their visit. At Runshaw, we are incredibly lucky to have such a rich history right on our doorsteps – trips out are just some of the highlights on our A Level courses.
