Runshaw hosts Macmillan cake sale and coffee morning

Staff at Runshaw hosted a cake sale today to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Prizes were also up for grabs for those who baked homemade cakes, as staff came together in the Staff Lounge for the morning. Thank you to everyone who baked, donated, bought a slice or simply helped spread the word. It was a fantastic team effort for a brilliant cause.

Our Enrichment Team also put a twist on the traditional event by hosting a ‘Build Your Own Hot Chocolate Station’ in Silverdale Hub. Students and staff were invited to purchase a hot chocolate before customising their drink with a selection of toppings, including whipped cream, a range of sauces, sprinkles, chocolate buttons, and marshmallows. The event also held special significance as it took place on what would have been the birthday of our much-missed colleague, Gayle Clarkson, who sadly passed away over the summer after battling cancer. A memorial display celebrating Gayle’s life was featured at the event, alongside a Wall of Hope and Remembrance, where students and staff could leave messages in tribute of loved ones affected by cancer.
