This month our A Level Geography students have been investigating Coastal Processes and Coastal Management at Cleveleys as part of their studies.
The trip allows students to experience course content in real life and support development of field work skills in preparation for their non-examined assessment element of their A Level course. Cleveleys sits on part of a coastline which is prone to erosion and flooding. Our students were fortunate to see rock groynes being constructed which helped students understanding of how they work. Students used a variety of field work equipment to collect data about the beach profile and sediment size as well as completing a bipolar assessment and field sketch of the coastal management. These were just a few of the activities that were carried out.

This is not the only trip our Geography students have the opportunity to participate in – visits to Liverpool to investigate Regeneration, as well as a week exploring the volcanic island of Iceland are just some of the exciting opportunities available studying this course. Geography is a highly popular A Level course that covers a range of human and physical topics such as Globalisation, Superpowers, Tectonic Process and Hazards and of course Coastal Landscapes and Change.
