Our School of Sport & Tourism were delighted once again to welcome Runshaw Alumni and Olympic Champion swimmer Anna Hopkin MBE into college.
Anna spoke to our students about life as an elite athlete, the support she received on her Olympic journey, pressures experienced by athletes and her internship with the UK Sports Institute.
Anna left Runshaw in 2014 and in November 2022, HRH Princess Anne presented Anna with her MBE at Windsor Castle for ‘Services to Swimming’, following on from her being part of the Olympic Gold medal-winning 4 x 100m Mixed medley Relay team in Tokyo in 2021.
In December Anna announced her retirement from the sport – congratulations Anna on your amazing career, you have achieved so much and we are all incredibly proud of you.
