Staff Spotlight – Meet Camilla Gregory

From Biology teacher to Head of Student Services, how Runshaw has supported Camilla’s career growth…

Camilla Gregory has been a dedicated and highly valued member of the Runshaw College community since 2014. Currently the Head of Student Services, Camilla plays a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and vibrant environment where students can thrive and succeed.

Camilla began her journey at Runshaw as a Biology teacher, before progressing through a range of roles including Course Leader and Advanced Practitioner. This varied career path has given her a deep understanding of both teaching and student wellbeing, which now underpins her strategic leadership in Student Services. Her progression reflects both her commitment to professional growth and Runshaw’s strong culture of Continuous Professional Development.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you joined Runshaw?

“I joined Runshaw in 2014 as a Biology teacher and, throughout my time here, I have progressed through various roles as a Course Leader, Advanced Practitioner and now the Head of Student Services”.

How has Runshaw supported your career growth and professional development?

“Runshaw has played a significant role in supporting my career growth and professional development through the extensive CPD programme. As an Advanced Practitioner I was able to complete research on aspects of teaching and learning, as well as completing the CMI Level 5 course for Leadership and Management, helping strengthen my management skills and prepare me for further progression. As a manager I have also completed my Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Leadership and also a Master of Arts in Education, Leadership and Management. These opportunities have enabled me to contribute more effectively to the College and support both staff and students in achieving their goals”.

What do you enjoy most about working at Runshaw College?

“The students! It is a privilege to provide a safe, vibrant environment for them to thrive and succeed”.

What has been your most memorable experience at Runshaw so far?

“Winning an award at Runshaw College’s 50th Anniversary event for Enjoyment. That meant the world to me and it feels amazing to be recognised by the College”.

What is the work environment like at Runshaw?

“It is a busy and focused environment, but we are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by like-minded individuals. The teams we are able to work with are always happy to help in any way they can. It feels amazing to have that sort of collaboration”.

What would you say to someone considering a role at Runshaw?

“Do it! You will get out of it what you put into it and have access to sector leading CPD and have the chance to work with amazing students”.
