This qualification has been designed for learners who wish to achieve a Level 1 qualification in preparation for future study and will maximise opportunities for learners to progress by focusing on the development of transferable and sector-related skills. This level 1 qualification is for students that have an interest or would like to explore working in the fields of either childcare or health and social care.

- Entry Requirements
For our Level 1 Pre-Advanced courses the entry requirements are 1 x GCSE at Grade 3, 1 x GCSE at Grade 2 & Maths or English Language at Grade 2 and Grade 1 in the other subjects.
Please note, some courses and subjects will have additional specific entry requirements or require DBS clearance to undertake placements. - How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through written and practical activities that are internally marked by your tutors. There is potential to gain distinctions in each unit and previously we have a record of students gaining highest grades. Upon successful completion of this course, students can move on to higher level study within the college or on to an apprenticeship. To aid this progression, students will also study English and maths.

- Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) for 16-18 Students
Students applying for this course undertake work placements with children and vulnerable people as part of their course. It is a requirement that all students complete a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check to confirm they do not have any cautions or convictions which would put in question their suitability to work in these areas. Students who do have convictions may not be able to complete this course. You will need to provide 3 ID documents. These can include; Birth Certificate, Driving License, Passport, Bank statement or a letter.
