A Level Drama & Theatre Studies
School Leavers (16-18)Expand your knowledge and appreciation of theatre in its entirety, including addressing how historical and social factors impact on performances within contemporary society. A Level Drama & Theatre Studies combines both the theoretical and practical study of a wide range of classical and contemporary practitioners. You will also study how to interpret a role, and how to use practitioner techniques to devise your own material.

A Level Film Studies
School Leavers (16-18)Lights, camera, action! A Level Film Studies is a course dedicated to the study of how meaning is created in film. We study mainstream, Hollywood films, as well as a broad range of British, foreign and experimental f ilms. Our approach is similar to English Literature – we focus on developing a critical understanding of film from a number of different perspectives: genre, narrative, film language and institution.

Level 2 Creative Media Production
School Leavers (16-18)Over a one year course you will develop a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the areas of Moving Image (editing, lighting and camera), Digital Print, Photography and Audio Editing. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this course progress onto the L3 Creative Media Production (Film and TV). A practical, work-based approach to learning, based on the television and film industry.

Creative Digital Media Production Level 3
School Leavers (16-18)The course is structured so that our learners will undertake a range of practical based projects throughout the two year programme, providing the foundations which allow our learners to flourish, with many continuing on to university degrees in a chosen specialism. Some of our learners have gone on to gain entry into renowned establishments including Salford University, Edge Hill University, Ravensbourne in London and Bournemouth University.

Media studies at Runshaw College is a dynamic and fast-moving subject that helps students understand the most influential aspect of modern life – the mass media in all its forms. Our students develop critical thinking skills and twothirds of all Runshaw Media students can expect to achieve an A or B grade.

A Level Music
School Leavers (16-18)Join a music band and learn all about jazz, solo work and instruments. A Level Music is a two year course which progresses naturally from GCSE Music, covering performing, composing and listening. The course allows students to develop a full range of musical skills across the three disciplines.

Music Technology
School Leavers (16-18)Gain skills and a qualification in creating high quality audio recording, with use of our Music Studio. This course is specifically designed to give you an excellent opportunity to develop skills and gain a qualification in producing high quality audio. Skills are developed from both the Musical and Engineering perspective. These are delivered with industry expectations and progression at the core of the curriculum. This is a BTEC qualification equivalent to 1.5 A Levels. It is studied as part of the A Level Programme alongside 2 or 3 other subjects and carries the same UCAS points as 1.5 A Levels!

Level 3 Professional Performance Programme - Acting
School Leavers (16-18)This is a full-time course for students who want to train as Actors and so most of your classes will focus on different styles of acting. Also, when you audition for drama school, you may be asked to perform a song or to take part in movement workshops and so it is important that you also have some basic training in Singing Skills and Dance. There may be the opportunity to take one of the Performing Arts A Levels alongside this course.

Level 3 Professional Performance Programme – Dance
School Leavers (16-18)This is a full-time course for students who want to train as Dancers and so most of your classes will focus on different styles of dance. Also, when you audition for dance schools such as Bird or Laine, you are generally asked to perform a song or drama monologue. For this reason, you will also have some classes in Singing and Acting, although the majority of your course will focus on dance. There may be the opportunity to take one of the Performing Arts A Levels alongside this course.

Level 3 Professional Performance Programme - Musical Theatre
School Leavers (16-18)The focus of the PPP Musical Theatre pathway is on allowing you to develop your skills in acting, dance and singing so that you are able to pass the auditions and continue your training at a prestigious institution. On the course, you will also have the opportunity to showcase your skills in a wide range of performances. There may be the opportunity to take one of the Performing Arts A Levels alongside this course.
