A Level Fine Art and A Level Textiles students have taken part in print, appliqué and mood board workshops at Bolton University.
This was a great opportunity for staff and students to work in an industry-standard workshop within the university and experience student life by sampling the courses. Staff were able to share skills and knowledge about skills our students need to progress on to creative degree courses at Bolton University and to work in creative industries. It was great for students to hear how their current college course could lead to a creative degree, apprenticeship, or the development of a business.
Students saw examples of how students had translated early drawings and research into fabric designs, carpet samples, fashion, and interior products. Students started a mood board using their samples that would be created by an interior designer pitching an idea in the industry. Bolton University was a great host, and we look forward to future visits to check how we are embedding our new shared knowledge of industry-standard sustainability, with inks into our curriculum with our printmaking in Fine Art and future visits with Textiles students in a possible pattern-cutting workshop.
