Tourism Management students have had an amazing opportunity to work closely with Visit Britain – the UK’s national tourist Board.
Scott Grime, a Runshaw A Level Alumni who began his studies here in 2010, is now the Tourism Education Development Manager at Visit Britain, and has worked closely with Course Leader Lisa Rowbotham to write Marketing assignment briefs to encourage year 2 students to plan, research and design marketing campaigns to help the domestic tourism market recover after the pandemic.
Early in September, Scott gave a 2-hour lecture on planning campaigns, target markets, existing research and up and coming Visit Britain Campaigns. Students have then used this information to prepare a marketing campaign proposal. On Monday, students pitched their proposals to Scott and received professional, industry specific feedback to help them develop their marketing campaigns in preparation for assignment 2 and assignment 3. We are looking forward to welcoming Scott back in January to see the finished campaigns.
This is an amazing opportunity for Tourism students and a perfect example of education and industry working together – to ensure the very best opportunities for our young people.
Lisa Rowbotham, Runshaw’s Tourism Course Leader, added, “It is great to have Scott working closely with the tourism team. We benefit from industry updating, up to date teaching materials and links to other sectors of the industry”.
