Runshaw Media Make-Up students have been spookily innovative with creating designs for their Halloween shoot.
Once again this year, students have been spookily creative in creating their Halloween characters. Students have the same brief each year consisting of 4 photoshoots over the year as part of their practical assessments, the first one being Halloween, which is a favourite for students as they get to use the special effects products to create wounds and cuts and horribly scary things!
Students have to research their character and draft their designs prior to the shoot. They need to produce a creative mood board of their planning and the props they will be using for the shoot. They have the option to bring in models, family and friends, or they can work on their peers.
It’s a lovely atmosphere and a nice end to their first term at college. Tutors get the music going when they start work and will also bring in sweet treats for the students. As always, the tutors were so impressed and each year it just gets better in terms of creativity and students will experiment with techniques which are not part of their curriculum. For example, the creations from our Level 2 students – who have only been at college for 10 weeks – have advanced to special effects make-up themselves, as that is part of their Level 3 course which is in the second year. The next assessment will be Christmas designs and characters.
