Esports is up and running at Runshaw, and on Wednesday 28th September, the Runshaw Ravens played their first Rocket League and Valorant matches in the British Esports Student Championships.
In round one, the Rocket League team fell 3-2 in a closely fought contest with Coventry Crosshairs, whilst the Valorant team beat Derby Diamonds by a score of 13-0! Week 2 results saw the Rocket League team beat Northwest Regional College, Ireland by a score of 3-0! Team Valorant lost 13-9 in another great match with Coventry Crosshairs!
We are currently in a Swiss format ranking round (matches are generally held every Wednesday at 4pm) with the seeded group stages starting in mid-November. A live grand final is held towards the end of June at the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies in Nottingham and last year’s finals were streamed live, with nearly 200,000 viewers tuning in!
The Esports hub can be found in P004a and contains 12 state of the art Dell Alienware gaming machines.
