Congratulations to Team 1 from Penwortham Priory who solved the ultimate maths puzzle in the 2024 Maths Challenge!
Last night, 22 teams from 15 partner high schools across the North West competed for the ultimate title of ‘Runshaw Maths Challenge Champions 2024’. After multiple rounds of challenging problems and solving questions, the title went to Team 1 from Penwortham Priory with 91 points, with Team 1 from Albany Academy coming in second place with 83 points and Team 1 from St Michael’s in Chorley coming in an extremely close third place with 82 points.
It was lovely to see so many budding mathematicians – well done to everyone who came and took part.
This well-established and popular competition for the mathematically gifted provides an opportunity for teams to compete for the prestigious Runshaw Maths Challenge Cup. There is a special cup for the winners but most of us would never get past task one, so deservedly all teams receive a medal in recognition of their prowess in this key subject.
