Our Media Make Up students entered our yearly AHT competitions at Blackpool this week and had yet more amazing success!
The regional competitions were for all colleges in the northwest areas, and we were proud to place in every category we entered winning most of our local competitors and colleges further afield.
Face Painting competition winners: The Theme was to create a nature scene on the face only within 40 mins
Nikki Versani (Level 2 student) – 1st Place
Katie Mellor (Level 2 student) – 2nd Place
Body art; Theme Seasons: Students were required to complete a full upper torso and face body paint in 2.5 hours.
Chloe Speakman (Level 3 students) – 1st Place
Body Art (Higher level must have over 3 years experience in body painting) Theme – The work of Vivien Westwood.
Winner – 1st Place Keira Reed (Level 2 student)
Keira stepped in to do the comp after our original student competitor dropped out of the comp due to illness. Keira had a crash course in recreating our design and idea after one of her lessons, so in 2 hours we covered most of the design and she was given work to do at home over the weekend to practise.
We decided to enter this category to challenge the students knowing we didn’t have the experience required as both students were on our Level 2 programme but showed great potential.
Keira ended up winning! this was such an unbelievable achievement for her and the power in self-belief and determination.
Fashion and photographic make-up: Theme high fashion Editorial make-up.
Scarlett Wade (Level 3 student) placed 3rd out of 22 competitors
Wedding Hair-up style.
Lucy Harris just missed out at the nationals by getting 5th Place out of 38 competitors
The Nationals are just around the corner on May 13th. The competition has become even more competitive, but we are confident we can be successful again like we did last year. Students have all committed to weekly competition classes and home practice ready for our next round.
