At Runshaw, all our students are at the heart of everything we do. We endeavour to ensure that every student feels happy and fulfilled during their time at the college, realise their full potential and acquire the skills that equip them to achieve their future goals and ambitions.
We have a great track record in supporting students. If you have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and need more comprehensive support, we can work with you, your current school and the Local Authority to ensure that you get the best possible support when you come to Runshaw. Arrangements can be made for transition visits to help with the move from school to college and we are happy to come out to school to attend your year 11 Annual Review meeting. Once in college we will provide a range of wraparound support to meet your needs and closely monitor your progress.
The main aim of Additional Learning Support is to work with you as an individual, but also in some cases, with your parent/guardian and teachers, to increase your confidence and independence in preparation for adulthood and for the future, whatever you choose to do.
Additional Learning Support is delivered by a team of specialist staff including teachers and a professional support team who provide 1:1 and small group support, both in and out of class alongside 1:1 Maths, English and Study Skills. Assistive technology and software are also used to remove barriers to learning, promoting independence and learning without limits.
Additional Learning Support has a small study area designed to support study programmes, providing a range of quiet spaces, meeting the needs of supported students during study periods and lunchtimes.
Working in close collaboration, not only with the student and their multi agency team, but with curriculum and programme teams ensures that considered, timely and supportive interventions are put into place in support of personal growth, successful achievement, outstanding retention and positive progression opportunities. We want your learning experience to be meaningful and for you to enjoy your time at Runshaw in order to reach your full potential.
