Runshaw students have celebrated in style this week as 11 Gold achievers were invited to Buckingham Palace Garden.

In total, around 2,000 Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award holders were guests of honour in Buckingham Palace Garden on Monday for the first of several events to mark their achievements.

The impact of the Volunteering section of the award is immense this year – Runshaw has contributed 3,094 volunteering hours, equating to a value of £9,523! Our Principal Clare Russell was also invited to celebrate this great achievement with our students. The Buckingham Palace Garden was transformed into a festival-style celebration. Attendees had the chance to hear from famous DofE Award holders and broadcasting legends, and pick up career advice from actors, presenters, authors, and campaigners, at stages throughout the garden.

The celebrations recognise approximately 8,000 young people who have shown extraordinary perseverance, creativity and resilience to complete their Gold DofE in schools, colleges, community organisations, youth groups and workplaces all over the UK.
