Our Vocational Creative Media Production students recently visited Edge Hill University for a taste of life after college.

The taster day gave our students a hands on opportunity to sample the kind of practical projects they would work on at Universities, as they make their steps towards a career in the Film, TV, and Creative Industries.

The Live Broadcast workshop gave our students a chance to sample what it is like working on a live production, all undertaking independent roles in getting the show live. This was a fantastic opportunity to develop skills in a large studio space and gave our students a taster of ‘Live TV’. They were able to transfer this into our curriculum provision the following week as our students created a live recording of a ‘Magazine TV show’ focussing on the great parts of Runshaw College @ 50.

It also gave our staff a really good opportunity to look at where we can develop our own provision. A really pleasing side of the day was seeing how Creative Media Production is ever evolving under the STEM provision for Technology. The use of studio space, equipment and the exploration of AI’s impact on the sector was an interesting conversation, as we look to bring more and more industry standard technology and experiences into the classroom.
