This course is specifically designed to give you an excellent opportunity to develop skills and gain a qualification in producing high quality audio. Skills are developed from both the Musical and Engineering perspective. These are delivered with industry expectations and progression at the core of the curriculum. This is a BTEC qualification equivalent to 1.5 A Levels. It is studied as part of the A Level Programme alongside 2 or 3 other subjects and carries the same UCAS points as 1.5 A Levels!

- The Music Technology industry
We expect that before starting this course you would have a good standard of ability on your main instrument, together with GCSE Music or an equivalent level of ability in music theory and traditional notation. Keyboard skills are also an advantage.
- Entry Requirements
Overall requirements for the A Level Programme at Runshaw College require a minimum of 5 GCSE subjects at Grade 5, in 5 separate national curriculum subjects (including a minimum of grade 4 in both English and Maths). It is expected that most students will study 3 subjects – the option of doing 4 subjects for students who have an average GCSE grade profile of 8 or above will be considered on an individual basis. This must include a Grade 5 in GCSE Music or Grade 3 in ABRSM Music Theory.
- How will I be assessed?
The course is a single Vocational Option within the A Level Programme and is equivalent in point score, on completion of Year 2, to a complete A Level.

Year 2: Edexcel Subsidiary Diploma in Music Technology (Production) examination - Progression Pathway
The Advanced Audio Engineering course gives you an in-depth knowledge of sound engineering, sound recording, music production and applies these skills to a range of contemporary scenarios.
This qualification is well respected in the industry and is highly valued for entrance to under-graduate study.
