Runshaw College is an approved centre for UAL Awarding Body Level 3 in the Advanced Musicianship Programme.
AMP is a unique two-year course, equivalent to three A Levels, providing you with tuition in studio recording, solo and ensemble performance and music production. Across each of these elements, you will build the experience required to work in the modern music industry and prepare you for further study at prestigious universities and music conservatoires.
An intensive full-time course aimed at developing performance, production, composition and song writing skills. Students will gain experience using Pro Tools software in our industry standard music studio and mac suites and will perform at a range of live events as well as record their work in the studio. The course aims to nurture a creative and experimental approach to music through practical projects, regardless of whether students are focused on pop and rock, jazz, classical or any other genre. Students will develop the skills required to progress onto highly prestigious university and conservatoire courses such as RNCM and LIPA.

- Entry Requirements
For our Level 3 Advanced Vocational courses our entry requirements are a minimum of 5x GCSEs at Grade 4, Maths or English Language/Literature at Grade 4 and Grade 3 in the other subjects.

- How will I be assessed?
Runshaw’s AMP combines practical skills with theoretical elements, allowing you to perform, create and explore music through a vast range of genres. Assessment takes place through a series of industry related projects, including live concerts production tasks, all set by your college tutors. You will be encouraged to push past the boundaries of your musical skills by exploring improvisation and working with new industry-standard software to compose music that creatively combines music technology and performance.

The full resources of the department will be at your disposal, including a professionally equipped recording studio, multiple performance spaces and practice rooms, and a fully equipped mac suite for music technology related work. You will use industry-standard professional software like ProTools and Sibelius, and you will have the opportunity to join numerous instrumental ensembles through our Music Academy. These ensembles perform in in several concerts throughout the year. You will also participate in workshops and trips to prestigious musical institutions.
