Students on our Social Science courses visited the Victorian prison last week for a trip behind bars.
The trip included a tour around Shrewsbury Prison, looking at how punishment has changed over time and what life is like in prisons. Students were then locked in cells to complete an escape room – some were even brave enough to do it in the dark tied to handcuffs!
Shrewsbury Prison was completed in 1793 and was notorious for its many executions. In 2013 it closed down as a functioning prison and has since been open to the public. Trips out are just some of the course highlights on offer for students wanting to study on one of our Social Science courses. Click below for more information and to apply now for September 2025.
