10 students were chosen to take part in an enrichment course that took place last term.
LaTeX is a document preparation system which is capable of producing documents containing complex mathematical expressions. LaTeX is widely used in Academia for the communication and publication of scientific documents in many fields, including mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, physics, chemistry, etc.
The aim of this course was to introduce the students to the LaTeX editor, become familiar with various packages and commands, and create a practice exam paper which would be completed by year 1 further maths students. The students developed their interpersonal skills and team work by discussing their work and making improvements where necessary. In addition the students worked independently outside of the set sessions in order to complete the weekly tasks. Finally, the students improved their presentation skills by delivering a 20 minute presentation explaining what they have learnt and their achievements.
