We are pleased to share that our students in Runshaw’s Dance Academy have won three trophies at this year’s International Dance Grand Prix in Barcelona!
The competition took place over the Easter weekend with over 700 pieces being entered. The judges were overwhelmed with the high standard of Runshaw’s students and the range of categories that they entered. This is the seventh time the Academy have taken part in the contest and each time they have brought home trophies!

This year the Academy entered the Fusion category with a medley of Beyonce songs. This won 1st prize and ‘Gold’ position for overall performance throughout the whole competition! Students have won Gold before, but this was the first time they have won an ‘overall’ award which is amazing – what an honour to win this trophy.
Students also won 2nd prize for our Musical Theatre piece ‘Paradise’. This piece was from the popular musical ‘Bat Out of Hell’ using the popular Meat Loaf song Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Their version was a huge success with the judges and brought energy and characterisation to the stage.

The 3rd and final trophy our students claimed was 2nd place again, performing a commercial piece to ‘It’s giving Vogue’. This piece was extremely polished and well rehearsed and our students really loved to perform this piece – their energy on stage was truly amazing. Congratulations to all our students who performed, and of course our staff – Lucy Collins, Gemma Anderton & Diane Naylor – who made it all possible.
Here at Runshaw, we recognise that there is more to life than studying. We encourage all students to take part in activities outside of class time and Runshaw College offers a huge range of different options. Click below for more information.
