Runshaw’s strongest students ‘lift’ the trophy for fifth annual event
The annual Strongest Student competition was held this week with 20 students competing in a range of events.
The events included an Axle Clean & Press, a Car Tyre Deadlift and a Keg Carry. The competitors were a mix of students from the Strength Academy and other students from outside the academy. There were some extremely impressive results, one of the highlights being Mia’s deadlift performance – she deadlifted 90kg for 19 repetitions in 60 seconds.

The overall winners were Mia and Will, both A Level students and members of our Sport Academy – congratulations to both our winners and all our competing students!

The Strength Academy is a unique addition to the Runshaw enrichment programme, something no other college is offering. Students in the academy have the opportunity to be coached in a variety of strength sports. The academy is continuing to grow from ‘strength to strength’, with students recently being coached by Wales’s Strongest Man and 3x World’s Strongest Woman. Click below to find out more.
