Runshaw College’s apprentices have celebrated success at the annual Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards at Preston North End Football Stadium.
The evening showcased some of the very best talent from across the region, including Runshaw’s very own apprentices. The evening included a gala dinner, entertainment and awards, with nominations from a number of our apprentices.
We are pleased to share that Jess Griffiths, who has recently completed her Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship with Triple Distinctions, won the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year award, with Runshaw’s Rachel McCracken coming in second place! Jess has now progressed higher within South Ribble Borough Council. We were also pleased to see apprentice alumni Rosie Davies as a finalist in the Degree Apprentice of the Year award. Rosie now works for Franke Bearings Ltd.

Rachel joined our Finance team in September 2023 and has impressed colleagues with her professionalism, dedication, and rapid development. Rachel is an asset to the college and has demonstrated the great impact an apprenticeship can have on the overall team dynamic and performance.
Rachel shared: “ I wanted to apply for an apprenticeship as it was the best route for me to get into the industry, given that I didn’t have A Levels or a finance-related BTEC. I really loved Runshaw from my first open day and throughout my time here as a student, so when I saw the opportunity to return and complete an apprenticeship in accounting, I jumped at the chance.”

Apprenticeships play a critical role in identifying talent in shaping the future of our young people. These awards celebrate those who have grasped the opportunity and bloomed within their own chosen apprenticeships, and we are incredibly proud of our apprentices. Well done to our winners and finalists, and thank you to everyone who has embraced and supported them on their apprenticeship journey.
