First Year A Level students have been invited to a Physical, Mental and Sexual Health Personal Development Day in line with our termly theme. These Personal Development Days are critical for fostering a well-rounded education.
Sessions were delivered from Lancashire County Council and TVS on Employability skills. This gave our students the opportunity to ask questions and gather insight from employers on how to do well in interviews during these Personal Development Days. Loud Speaker’s Matt and Calvin delivered sessions about the importance of public speaking skills. They taught how to be confident and make good impressions.
The sessions were interactive and student feedback from these was incredible! Laura Bates, award-winning author of ‘Everyday Sexism’ delivered a talk on sexual harassment. This was invaluable to students’ understanding of the social world and how to treat others. These topics are especially important for Personal Development Days.
Stephen Wild spoke about the importance of exercise on maintaining good mental health.
Our Enrichment Team, Alice and Danniella also delivered sessions on wellbeing, sleep and the importance of making small changes. Overall, the event was well-received by students who feel they have learnt ‘communication skills’, to ‘sleep more, exercise more’ and ‘how to display yourself well in public speaking’ thanks to the Personal Development Days.
