We are extremely proud to announce that the Law School’s Bar Mock Trial Team achieved second place in their regional heat.
This is an impressive result in a highly competitive field and reflects the students’ dedication, resilience and collaborative effort over many months. Since October, our students have been working tirelessly to prepare their cases. They have crafted opening and closing speeches, learned their witness roles, practised courtroom procedure and developed their teamwork to a very high standard. Their commitment and professionalism have been exceptional throughout the process.

The Bar Mock Trial Competition offers students aged 15-18 a unique opportunity to explore the justice system in depth. Participants take on the roles of barristers, witnesses, clerks, ushers and jury members, allowing them to build confidence, develop advocacy skills and gain a genuine insight into how courts operate.
Our A Level Law students also had the privilege of spending a day at the Crown Court with His Honour Judge Jefferies KC. This rare opportunity offered them a first-hand insight into the realities of criminal justice and the work of the courts. During the visit, our students were able to observe the famous Crown Court in full session. They watched a live criminal trial unfold, seeing how barristers question witnesses, how clerks support the smooth running of proceedings, how the jury considers the evidence, and how the judge oversees and directs the case.

Experiencing a real trial in action brought their classroom learning to life in an unforgettable way. Judge Jefferies kindly took time to speak with our students, answering their questions about his career, the role of judges in the justice system and the skills required to progress in the legal profession. His insight provided valuable guidance for those considering future pathways in law.
The visit offered a truly meaningful and educational experience, deepening students’ understanding of courtroom procedure and the responsibilities carried by legal professionals. Find out more about A Level Law and apply for September 2026 below.
