Our FAD student Olivia Tomlinson has done herself and the college proud by bagging herself a Packaging Design Degree Apprenticeship with Nestlé!
Olivia completed a six-stage application process to achieve the apprenticeship. In the early stages of the application process, she was given a selection of fake briefs from Nestlé and feed back to them on how she would approach the projects.
In the final stage, she had a four-hour interview, during which, Olivia was given a 15-page powerpoint with three tasks which she had 45 minutes to prep for. The interview also involved a strength-based test, testing her on how she plans to (if she got the position) implement her skills in the business.
When she starts her apprenticeship she will be based at the Dalston Factory in Cumbria within packaging development. Olivia chose this apprenticeship as it was one of the few degree apprenticeships that she had come across that was run by a large company. She studied our Maths, Textiles, and 3D Design at A Level before starting our Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. Olivia was looking for a career in design and she feels as though the packaging design apprenticeship is the best fit to start off her career. She is looking forward to experimenting and picking up new skills within her apprenticeship.
When Olivia finishes her apprenticeship, she hopes to work up to being a manager within the department as she will have a degree as a packaging professional.
Well done to Olivia on this amazing achievement!
