Runshaw student Phoebe is set to represent England in the National College Netball Team.
Run by the Association of Colleges, the team is made up of the finest athletes from across the country. Every college in England with a netball team can nominate six players with the aim of attending trials. Players must have played at either a regional or county level to qualify for a trial. Phoebe was eligible for both, and was put forward by Runshaw College and was successful – only 110 students were selected for trials nationwide, which took place at the start of November. The trials consisted of fitness courses and skills tests with the aim of selecting the final 22 players for the team. Phoebe is now part of that team, joining 21 other players from colleges across the country. The tournament starts in January when Phoebe will play against both regional and national teams.

Phoebe is a member of our Netball Academy and is currently studying A Levels in PE, Sociology, English Language, alongside the Extended Project Qualification, “I came to Runshaw because I got a very warm feeling when I looked around and when I started it instantly felt like I was part of a family, where I was supported by both my teachers and peers. I love the people here and the opportunities are endless – as I’ve found out being part of the Netball Academy”. Phoebe and the team are currently on a winning streak, they haven’t lost a game this season, “We’ve won by considerable goal margins and I was pleased to be awarded player of the match in our last game.”

We would like to wish Phoebe all the best in January – and we also wish her continued success in her games as a member of the Netball Academy – well done Phoebe! Click below to find out more about all our academies on offer at Runshaw.
