Students on Police Horizons were treated to a final end of year presentation courtesy of the Criminal Justice Centralised Unit and Lancashire Police.
Our first speakers were from the Online Court Resulting team. Fiona kick started the session by discussing her role within CJCU, working as part of a small team of highly trained resulting staff who are responsible for removing duplicate offences, updating offences with court detail and results that have failed to transmit. As well as ensuring DNA and fingerprints are accurately saved and recorded. The small, skilled, specialised team has the sole responsibility of working through the forces impending offences on PNC (currently around 17,000 offences).
Next speaking were Nellie and Isabel from the Warrants Unit. They discussed their roles which focus on managing and executing warrants. The unit plays a crucial role in ensuring that individuals who are required to appear in court or have breached court orders are located and brought to justice. The pair discussed the difference between Crown, Magistrates and Out of Force Warrants. The CJCU operates with precision and efficiency, maintaining the integrity of the criminal justice system.
Both speaker sessions were extremely informative and provided learners with information on some staff roles available within Lancashire Police. Thank you Fiona, Nellie & Isabel, our students learned a lot from this session – we hope to see you again soon!

Our Police Horizons Academy provides knowledge on key legislation with the opportunity to gain practical skills via role plays covering lawful stop and searches and carrying out lawful arrests. Students also investigate case studies to give them some background knowledge into the history of policing. They will learn about the recruitment process and what will be expected, with the opportunity to practice the fitness test that is required to pass upon entry into the police. More information can be found in our Horizons booklet below.
