It’s a knockout! Boxing triumph for A Level Physical Education student
Congratulations to our Year 2 A Level Physical Education student Laila Sutton, who has recently been crowned England Boxing u50KG Champion!
Laila had a remarkable tournament, competing in the England Boxing Winter Women’s Box Cup, knocking out all comers to reach the final. Laila won on a split decision in the under 50 kilograms category, adding, “I was quietly confident going into the final, as I had already faced my opponent three times previously. I’m incredibly proud to have won”.

Well done Laila on a fantastic achievement! The Women’s Winter Box Cup debuted in 2018 to great acclaim, ensuring an annual spot on the sporting competition calendar. The women and girls-only event – which was the first of its type in the UK when established – is open to Juniors, Youth and Elite boxers across a variety of weights. It aims to help develop the strength of women’s boxing and also act as an inspiration to other women and girls who may wish to get involved in the sport.
