The course will be delivered through a blended approach, combining tutor-led sessions in the classroom with elements of online learning also conducted on site. This format supports a flexible and interactive learning experience.
Important information:
- If the student’s long-term goal is to work within the healthcare sector, they will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at their place of work.
- Criminal convictions may exclude the student from working in some job roles.
- Some universities require students with a full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Entry Requirements
- Students must be aged 19+
- GCSE English Language grade C/4 or above (or Level 2 Functional Skill English)
- GCSE Maths grade C/ 4 or above (or Level 2 Functional Skills Maths)
- GCSE Science grade C/4 or above – desirable
We accept any science subject as part of the entry requirements for this course. However, students should be aware that some universities may require Biology specifically for progression to certain degree programmes. It is recommended that learners check individual university requirements if they plan to continue their studies after completing this course.
Pre interview task– 500 words on why the learner has chosen to study this qualification.
- How will I be assessed?
Assignment work, research projects, examinations, reports, and reflective accounts.
UCAS points: Learners can receive 144 UCAS points if they achieve any of these qualifications with a distinction.

Do classes take place throughout the year?
No, Runshaw College observes term times in line with local education. A full college calendar will be provided upon enrolment.
Do I need to attend every lesson?
Yes, you must attend all lessons without fail (unless due to exceptional circumstances) as any absences will have a significant impact on your learning and achievement on the course.
Is this a full-time course?
This is not a full-time course. Learners are expected to attend campus two days per week and complete additional self-directed study outside of scheduled classroom sessions.
