This week we have been celebrating some of the fantastic achievements of our apprentices for National Apprenticeship Week 2026.
National Apprenticeship Week 2026 is the 19th annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships, bringing together businesses and apprentices from across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

Throughout the week, our teams have been out and about visiting our partners. We heard from both our apprentices and employers that apprentices are hugely beneficial in the workplace. Our Careers Team also showcased some of the career opportunities available through an apprenticeship by running activities and hosting a Student Volunteering & Careers Fair.

On T Level Thursday, our T Level Design Engineering students visited the Lancashire Mining Museum, learning all about the history of mining with the opportunity to go into a mine, browse the tools and equipment used in the past, and visit the set of Peaky Blinders. The trip was perfect for their ‘Past, Present and Future Topic’ as part of their T Level studies. Our T Level Health students also ran a blood pressure check clinic for staff, to allow our students to practice for their practical exams in the spring.

Also this week, we hosted our annual Apprenticeships Conference, bringing together apprentice trainers, department leaders, support staff, and the employer engagement team to share best practice and strengthen collaboration. It’s a chance to reflect on the year’s developments, explore new approaches to supporting apprentices and employers, and celebrate the achievements and successes across the programme. We would also like to thank Leyland Trucks for coming in to speak with our students about Business Apprenticeships.

To end the week, our personal development day for our current apprentices included a full programme of workshops focused on ‘Preparing for the Future’, ‘Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing’, ‘Team Building’, ‘Communication Skills’ and more. It was a valuble day of learning and all contributed towards their ‘Off‑the‑Job’ training.

We are also thrilled to share the news that one of our very own apprentices – Bailey Hardman – has successfully completed his Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship, achieving an exceptional Triple Distinction, the highest grade possible. Bailey has made a real impact across the college, supporting daily operations and contributing to key projects with dedication and professionalism. Congratulations Bailey and we wish you continued success here at Runshaw.

As we come to the end of another successful campaign and celebration, we would like to wish all our apprentices continued success for the future. Find out more about our Apprenticeship Programmes by clicking below.
