Congratulations to our A Level Biology students who were selected to represent Runshaw College at the Edge Hill University Biology Olympiad. 66 of our students also took part in the prestigious UKBC Intermediate Biology Olympiad.
Seven of our students demonstrated strong performances across three challenging activities at Edge Hill’s Biology Olympiad, including the examination of skeletons and investigating the effects of transpiration on plants. The event also included a complimentary lunch and a guided tour of the university campus. It was a thoroughly well-organised event that was greatly enjoyed by all participants.

We are also proud to congratulate 66 of our A Level Biology students who took part in the prestigious UKBC Intermediate Biology Olympiad, an international competition that saw participation from over 17,000 students. We are delighted to share that two of our students achieved exceptional results, placing in the top 5% nationally and earning the Gold Award. In addition, eight students were awarded the Silver Award, placing them within the top 15%. Well done to all students who participated – your hard work and dedication are truly commendable.

The British Biology Olympiad challenges and stimulates students with an interest in Biology to expand and extend their talents. It enables students to demonstrate their talent and to be suitably rewarded with publicly recognised certificates. Students are presented with topics and ideas which they are not familiar with, so compete with their problem solving skills and understanding of core principles.
