  • Job Description

    The Trustees and the Head Teacher of Lever Edge Primary Academy are seeking to appoint an Apprentice Early Years Practitioner.
    If you are a fun loving individual, with bags of stamina, eyes in the back of your head, not adverse to dribble (or worse!); don’t mind wearing silly hats or pretending to be a lion, can withstand the elements, the cold and the wet (there’s no such thing as bad weather); can read a story for the umpteenth time with the same enthusiasm as the first, absolutely adore children and have loads to offer to enable them to thrive and grow, please do get in touch.
    Our Nursery unit stands within Lever Edge Primary Academy and as such has the use of a wide range of outstanding facilities. The Nursery is purpose built, bright and very well resourced.

    We would like you to:
    Supporting Child Development
    – To support the planning and organising of activities in line with children’s learning from 6 months to 4 year olds.
    – To maintain accurate up-to-date records
    Communication and Engagement
    – To communicate and engage with children to support their speech and language development e.g. storytelling and singing
    – To communicate effectively with members of the nursery team
    – To work in partnership with parents and colleagues
    – To welcome parents and visitors to the nursery in a cheerful and friendly manner
    Child Protection and Safeguarding
    – To be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring that the welfare and safety of children attending the nursery is promoted and any safeguarding concerns are reported to the Nursery Manager
    – To support the management of children’s behaviour
    – To undertake specific tasks relating to the safety and hygiene of the children and the cleanliness of the nursery, maintaining a cleaning routine under the direction of the Nursery Manager
    What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
    • Early Years Practitioner – Level 2 or Level 3 Standard.
    • On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard.
    • Regular work-based assessments/observations
    What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
    • Potential for full time employment for the right candidate.
    • Many employers retain apprentices in full/part time positions.
    • The qualifications you gain can also help you to get into higher education or other employment.
    • Being an apprentice gives you the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and developing professional skills whilst earning a salary
    • Once the Apprenticeship has been achieved you will have the skills, abilities, and experience to update and enhance your CV, to make it attractive to potential employers.

    This includes a professional discussion underpinned by portfolio. A knowledge test. All assessment methods will be conducted and graded by an independent EPAO.
