A Level Textiles students enjoy Summer Fashion Challenge
A Level Textiles students Lucas, Maia, Joshua and Lucas have spent a week of their Summer break to take part in this year’s ‘Fashion Challenge’.
Organised by Gawthorpe Textiles Collection in partnership with the Fashion department at the University of Lancashire and The British Textile Biennial, students aged 14-18 had the opportunity to work at Northlight studios in Brierfield to develop their creative fashion skills and learn subtraction pattern cutting, whilst networking with other fashion students, mentors and tutors.
A celebration of the event will take place in October, where a prize giving evening will recognise our students’ creative talents of both group work and their individual outcomes. Final fashion garments have recently been posted on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
Students studying A Level Textiles at Runshaw develop skills in wide variety of fashion, and textile techniques are taught by industry experienced tutors including; fashion illustration, machine and hand embroidery, appliqué, embellishment, surface pattern design, print techniques including mono print, lino print and screen printed fabrics for fashion and interior.
